To all my friends and acquaintances, and people in line at the bank and everyone else who has put up with my questions for the last 6 months, thank you. The fabulous puzzle of politics continues. I wish I could promise to let up now that the election is over. I’ll give it a shot, but chances are I’ll fail. That would call for discipline, it probably will not happen.

So, what tact do you think Mitch McConnell will be taking next week? I wonder how Boehner will handle Congress? Do you think they will compromise a bit more with the Dems. Will the first action of Congress, when they return from break, be to vote to repeal Obamacare? Ooooooo, this will be so much fun!

New article (well, kinda, it was published this week…. I’m a bit slow..) re: the congressional race in the district we live in. The article was picked up by a local online magazine and with the permission of allvoices.com, republished. YEA!

The candidates could not be more different in their political views and agenda. I used to know Duncan’s Dad who was a congressman before him. I do not remember Duncan Sr. being as radical in his convictions nor as conservative. Well, that whole Republican party has taken a nose dive to the right.

David is a nice guy who is running because he feels compelled because Duncan is so radical. Duncan’s views on women’s rights are about as far to the right….or back into the past… as possible.

The exquisit delight of painting

I wanted to try my hand at flowers! This is fun too. Everything is fun so far except straight edges. Straight edges are not fun and so I am going to put away the canvas of straight edged building for awhile and go back to something curvy!

The kid and her friends have been painting when they have had enough swimming or a storm rolls in. This may be the very best way to entertain a group of girls yet! Messy too.

A letter to Rebbecca

Dear Rebbecca,

In another time I would place this note behind a rock in the vineyard wall or in the hollow of a tree. However, times have changed and I shall place this under the vines in the ether in hopes you may find it there. We are far apart in time and space from where we started. Methods change and so must we. Our chance meeting seems fortuitous though I wish I’d known when we met we are kin and gotten contact information. Hopefully the spiders and dust bunnies will hear of my search for you and lead you through the cloud to this letter.

So my sister, we are far from Salem and from the times where we got our start. Still, politics remains a thread that runs through our existence. The politics at the time of our beginnings resulted in tragedy and so we shall hope things do not lead us there again. Still, remembering the whispers and accusations of that time makes me listen all the more closely to the whispers and accusations of this time we now find ourselves.

And to the point of this letter, my dear Rebbecca, what, pray tell, do you make of the remarks the other day? They say what they mean and mean what they say, but say what they do not mean and mean what they do not say? Has the language of our mother changed so that the meaning is obscure to you as it is to me?

Film about undocumented workers on allvoices.co,

I saw the most compelling documentary about undocumented workers in the U.S. about a month ago. It is a short documentary all should see. I was so impressed with the young men’s work that I set out to track them down. I finally was able to meet Max and learn more about him and the film. I wrote a story and posted the video at the following site:
